Carbon Reduction Plan

1. Introduction: As a service-based company, we recognize our responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to global Net Zero efforts. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our strategy, beginning in 2022, to achieve an annual reduction in carbon emissions. Our ultimate goal is to reach Net Zero emissions by 2050 through systematic and measurable actions.

2. Major Sources of Carbon Emissions: Our primary sources of carbon emissions are identified as:

  • Commuting to work: Employee transportation contributes significantly to our overall footprint.
  • Office space and energy use: Maintaining a large office results in high energy consumption, including electricity, heating, and cooling.

3. Carbon Reduction Strategies: To achieve meaningful progress, we have implemented the following measures:

3.1 Reducing Office Space

  • Downsizing our office footprint to a minimal but functional space.
  • Transitioning to shared and flexible workspaces to optimize usage.
  • Implementing energy-efficient practices, such as LED lighting, smart thermostats, and renewable energy procurement where possible.
  • Cloud based services

3.2 Introducing Home Office and Hybrid Work

  • Encouraging remote work for employees whenever possible.
  • Providing necessary digital tools and support to maintain efficiency.
  • Reducing business travel and replacing it with virtual meetings.

3.3 Sustainable Commuting Initiatives

  • Promoting carpooling and subsidizing public transportation options.
  • Encouraging the use of low-emission vehicles and bike commuting.

3.4 Annual Carbon Footprint Assessment & Review

At the end of each year, we will conduct a Carbon Footprint Review to:

  • Measure reductions achieved.
  • Identify new areas for improvement.
  • Adjust policies and strategies for continued progress.

4. Long-Term Commitment: Our goal is to achieve a significant reduction in carbon emissions every year through continuous adaptation and improvement. By 2050, we aim to achieve Net Zero emissions through a combination of emissions reductions and offsetting any remaining unavoidable emissions.

5. Progress Tracking & Future Targets: Below is a placeholder for tracking our progress and future reduction goals:

Year Carbon Reduction Initiatives Reduction Achieved (%) KgCO2e total
2022 Initial assessment & office downsizing Baseline year 13,490
2023 Increased remote work & energy-efficient measures 10% 12,141
2024 Further reduction in office space & expanded hybrid model 15% 11,466
2025 Intended for current year 20% 10,792
2050 Net Zero target achieved 82% 2,383

We remain committed to making measurable progress toward a more sustainable future, ensuring that our business operations align with global climate goals.

Reporting Period: January 1st, 2024 – December 31st, 2024

1. Introduction: As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, this report outlines our progress for the year 2024. Our primary focus remained on keeping a reduced office space, increasing remote work adoption, and promoting sustainable commuting alternatives as well as less and more efficient cloud based services.

2. Key Initiatives Implemented in 2024

  • Keep Office Space Reduction: We analyzed the possibility of extending office space, but it was deemed not necessary.
  • Expanded Remote Work Policy: Increased the percentage of employees working remotely at least four days per week, minimizing commuting emissions.
  • Zero print emissions: We reduced the number of printed pages to our minimum. We adopted digital signature options to avoid printing.
  • Sustainable Commuting Support: We continue to encourage employees to use public transport, carpool, or cycle, with additional incentives for those using eco-friendly options.
  • Digitalization of Operations: Reduced paper usage and unnecessary physical storage to lower resource consumption. We did a review of online services and reduced those that were not in use, as every year.

3. Measured Carbon Reduction

Metric 2023 Value 2024 Value Reduction Reduction over baseline
Total footprint 11,520 kgCO2e 9,680 kgCO2e 16% 28%
Scope 1 Direct 1,510 kgCO2e 1,360 kgCO2e 10% 31%
Scope 2 Indirect 5,990 kgCO2e 5,400 kgCO2e 10% 24%
Scope 3 4,020 kgCO2e 2,920 kgCO2e 27% 34%

4. Challenges and Learnings

  • Adapting to hybrid work models while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring all employees have equal access to remote work tools and resources.
  • Overcoming resistance to change in sustainable commuting habits.

5. Future Actions for 2025

  • Reducing air travel for train transportation.
  • Further optimize office space and energy efficiency.
  • Continue increasing remote work participation.
  • Enhance digitalization to minimize resource use.
  • Explore carbon offset initiatives for unavoidable emissions.

6. Conclusion: The year 2024 marked significant progress in our journey toward Net Zero emissions. While challenges remain, our commitment to continuous improvement ensures that we stay on track. We will build on this momentum in 2025 with new initiatives and further reductions in our carbon footprint. The actual readings (yellow line) show a significant reduction over the initially planned reduction (orange line).

We believe we have achieved a point where further reductions can be made, but they will have a lesser of an impact on the overall results, so we expect for the coming years that the readings will tend to flatten a bit (blue line) until they meet with our original plan, at around 2040. It is uncertain what technologies there will be by then, so the projection will likely continue to change as technology moves on.
